Making connections through art: Burra Regional Art Gallery fosters excellence in the arts, supports the work of regional artists and young artists and promotes community education in the arts.
Situated within the old Telegraph and Post Office building from which J McDouall Stuart sent his message in Dec 1862, to inform the SA authorities that he had successfully crossed Australia. The S.T. Gill room has four major works by that artist of Burra in 1847 and 1850.
A beautiful building with excellent spaces for showing work from the small and intimate to the huge and confronting with everything in-between. Artist cards and a small retail shop of affordable high quality works. The Gallery provides a venue for artists to exhibit their works in group and solo exhibitions, hosts major touring exhibitions, conducts competitions and invites prominent artists to conduct master classes and workshops.
A volunteer manned and managed gallery, the building and external maintenance is provided by the Regional Council of Goyder.
