Country Arts SA, the Burra Regional Art Gallery and the Regional Council of Goyder are pleased to announce that they have received funding through Arts SA for a new residency and ephemeral art commission to take place around the Goyder region.

Country Arts SA is now seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from South Australian artists to undertake a one- week residency in the town of Burra. Artists will then create ephemeral artworks for installation in the public domain based on their experiences.

Four artists will be selected to take part in this project and to work with the project partners to develop their ephemeral artwork and install their work.

Residencies will be held in July/August 2015. Artworks will be installed in March/April 2016. Sites for the ephemeral works will be negotiated with the Regional Council of Goyder following the residency.

As part of the residency each artist will facilitate a workshop, open to the general public, which explores one or more aspects of their practice.

Country Arts SA CEO Steve Saffell said: “The Ephemeral Art Commission will uncover local talent and build relationships between local artists and the wider South Australian arts community. We look forward to expressions of interest from artists living in the Goyder region and around South Australia.”

Country Arts SA will also engage an Assistant Regional Coordinator as part of the project. The Assistant Regional Coordinator will support the Country Arts SA Visual Arts Coordinator in all aspects of the project.

The Steering Committee views this as an exciting opportunity for professional development for a resident of regional South Australia who has not necessarily worked in this field before but would like to continue in this vein in the future.
